Newborn - Photo By: Susan Gray Photography |
In August of 2011 on a 100 degree day during our county fair, I went into labor with my sweet baby boy. He came into the world five weeks early, weighing 4lbs. 7oz and was 17 1/2in. long. Since my family genetics include a lot of larger babies, I never once imagined I would give birth to an itty baby babe of this size. But there he was, all few preemie pounds of him being taken to the NICU. After a few days, he was perfectly fine and was able to go home. I often think about how lucky we were to have such a fortunate outcome from the NICU. I know God had a hand in the work that was done in that hospital.

2nd Birthday - Susan Gray Photography |
Fast forward five weeks. I became a young, single mom. Thinking about that day, still makes my gut sink. But here I am two years later, and I know that was the best decision I have
EVER made. In two years I have seen sides of myself good and bad that I didn't even know existed. It's a very emotional situation that will affect Jack, myself, and his dad for the rest of our lives. All of the heartache that's happened, will never amount to the joy that being a mama brings me. I wake up everyday to a little boy that I know is the best thing that ever happened to me. I am raising a baby, while I am growing up and learning myself. It keeps me on my toes, and keeps my life interesting. How couldn't he? Tractors in my shower every morning, endless "vroom, vroom" noises everywhere we go, singing his own version of "Old Mcdonald" and anything else. Some days are a piece of cakes, other days.. Not so much! :)
He loves
"Everything Dirt & Tractors" so as I get better at blogging, check back for posts about this cute little boy and my journey as a single mom.
